Presbyterian Women "PW"
History - The Women's Missionary Society was formed when the church was established in 1919. In the late 1950's or early 1960's when Presbyterian Churches were combined and named the United Presbyterian Church, the national organization name was changed to United Presbyterian Women. In recent years with another combining of Presbyterian Churches, the name was changed to The Presbyterian Church, USA. Thus, the word "United" was dropped and the women's organization became Presbyterian Women. Membership is open to anyone who would like to share the Spirit of Christian Love. Purpose - Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit - We Commit Ourselves: To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study, To support the Mission of the Church worldwide, To work for justice and peace. To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church USA, and Witnesses to the promise of God's Kingdom. Meeting Schedule - The following Guilds meet the fourth Wednesday of the month for Bible study and discussion: Grace Guild 9:00 A.M. Meets at the Christian Education Building Faith Guild 2:00 P.M. Meets in members homes Hope Guild 7:30 P.M. Meets in members homes Dorcas Guild - Meets Monday at 8:30 A.M. in the Christian Education Building. This group makes woven rugs, baby comforters and other craft items. The proceeds from sales go to fund mission and local projects. Projects - Below is a partial list of the projects that are undertaken. Serve funeral luncheons, receptions, Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Dinner. Sew lap robes for shut-ins; give scholarships for Youth Campers and fill Christmas stockings for needy, area families. "Spring Fling" Bazaar - A raffle is held each year for a quilt. Christmas Holiday Bazaar & Cookie Sale - First Sunday in December at 11:00 A.M.
